Approach

First and foremost, I believe that developing an open, authentic, and trusting relationship with you is the single most important part of the counseling process. I also believe in getting to know you as a whole person and how you have come to understand your lived experiences; not just the problems that may be giving you trouble in life. Throughout that process I strive to create an atmosphere of authenticity, warmth, curiosity, and non-judgmental acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is on your mind.

My approach is a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, neuro-affirming, and evidence-based style of attachment-based psychodynamic therapy that emphasizes:

(1) Trusting the client as an expert of their own reality,

(2) Joining the client in exploring the patterns through which they come to understand themselves, others, and the world, and

(3) Seeking meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship together.

I am also a contracted therapist with Lyra Health if you have EAP benefits through your employer.

Please check with your insurance provider to make sure that I am in-network prior to attending your first appointment.

If you plan to pay out-of-pocket, then each appointment costs $150. I accept cash, credit, or check payments in person or through my secure client portal. Payments are collected at the conclusion of each session.

I will file all insurance claims under “Brad Carmichael, MS.Ed, LPC, LLC.” If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with forms to submit for reimbursement.

There is no charge for cancellations made more than 24 hours before your appointment. If you do not notify me within this time, then I reserve the right to collect a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the service fee.
